Overview

Industrial power supplies, plating rectifiers and UPS systems convert and condition large amounts of electrical power, often at high current and low voltage. In these applications conduction loss dominates, and the quality of the power stage determines both efficiency and reliability. MacMic's portfolio fits this space well: low-RDS(on) MOSFET modules for high-current rectification, IGBT modules for the primary conversion stage, and fast recovery diodes for PFC and output rectification. BeiLuo supplies them with genuine traceability and FAE support.

High-Current Rectification

Plating power supplies deliver thousands of amps at a few volts. Traditionally this meant many paralleled Schottky or MOSFET discretes, with all the current-sharing and assembly challenges that brings. A MacMic MOSFET module integrates multiple dies in one package with controlled internal layout, so current sharing is inherent and the thermal path is defined. Low RDS(on), for example around 0.57 mOhm in the MMN1000DB010B, keeps conduction loss small even at hundreds of amps, which is what makes high-efficiency, high-current rectification practical.

Synchronous Rectification

In isolated supplies, the secondary rectifier is a large contributor to total loss. Replacing diodes with synchronous rectification using low-RDS(on) MOSFET modules cuts that loss by an order of magnitude and improves efficiency across the load range. The module's fast body diode handles the transitions, and the low on-resistance keeps the rectifier cool at full current. This is one of the strongest reasons to choose a module over discretes in high-current outputs.

Primary Conversion and PFC

The primary side converts and regulates power, typically with a PFC front end followed by an isolated DC-DC stage. IGBT modules handle the switching at the bus voltage, while fast recovery diode modules perform PFC rectification and freewheeling with soft recovery to keep EMI low. Matching the diode's recovery charge to the switch current and frequency is important, because the freewheeling path can otherwise dominate switching loss. MacMic HN IGBT modules support the higher switching frequencies that shrink magnetics and improve power density.

Solid-State Switching and UPS

Single-switch MOSFET modules can replace mechanical contactors, giving silent, fast and wear-free switching of large currents. In UPS systems, IGBT modules and diodes form the inverter and rectifier stages, and the module package keeps the power stage compact and serviceable. Ruggedness under fault currents and short circuits is essential in these systems, and MacMic modules provide good short-circuit capability combined with careful protection design.

Thermal and Reliability

High-current power supplies live or die by thermal design. Starting from the module's junction-to-case thermal resistance, adding interface and heatsink resistance, and verifying junction temperature at worst-case current keeps the system reliable. Documented import and compliance files ship with every BeiLuo order, and our FAE team supports gate drive, layout and thermal review from prototype to volume production.
