MacMic IGBT Discrete

MM40G3U65BN

MacMic IGBT Discrete G3U In Stock

650 V / 40 A MacMic G3U high-speed discrete IGBT in TO-247 for welding, induction and inverters above 15 kHz.

The MM40G3U65BN is a 650 V / 40 A MacMic discrete IGBT in the TO-247 package, from the high-speed G3U series built on a self-developed low-VCE Trench Field-Stop chip. With a typical saturation voltage of 1.75 V, 230 W power dissipation and 0.65 K/W junction-to-case thermal resistance, it is tuned for switching above 15 kHz in welding machines, induction cookers and inverters. The G3U series delivers fast switching with good short-circuit capability, and the standard TO-247 footprint mounts to common heatsinks and existing layouts. Unlike a module, a discrete gives full freedom in circuit topology and lets you optimize the freewheeling path independently. Every device is factory-traceable and ships with import declaration, certificate of origin and RoHS documentation. Designers should size the gate resistor and dead time for the high switching speed, and confirm the heatsink against the 0.65 K/W thermal path for continuous operation. The device ships with import, origin and RoHS documentation, and BeiLuo supports sample orders so you can validate switching and thermal behavior on the bench.

FAE Professional Review

The MM40G3U65BN is a high-speed workhorse for 650 V designs above 15 kHz. The 1.75 V VCE(sat) keeps conduction loss in check, and the fast switching suits welding and induction loads. Keep the gate loop short to control overshoot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What switching speed does the G3U series target?

G3U is designed for switching above 15 kHz, such as welding machines and induction heating. For slower motor-drive or conversion circuits below 15 kHz, the G3T series is the better match.

Match the series to your frequency.

Compare G3T and G3U options

How do I drive this discrete for reliable switching?

Start from the datasheet gate resistor, keep the gate loop short, and verify turn-off overvoltage at the device terminals. A negative gate supply improves off-state robustness in half-bridge use.

What thermal design is needed at 40 A?

Use the 0.65 K/W RthJC plus interface and heatsink resistance, and verify junction temperature at continuous current. The TO-247 mounts with a standard clip or screw.
